One of my first weddings as a photographer in Australia covered all the must-haves in Melbourne. We started off with the preparations in Collins Street before heading off to the ceremony at the Old Treasury Building. From the wedding ceremony, we went through the Treasury Gardens to the Parliament House. Before the reception started at The Stolen Gem, we managed to squeeze in some wedding photos at Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar, China Town and GPO. As a first Australian wedding I was super excited. What a list!
OLD TREASURY BUILDING
The intimate Melbourne CBD ceremony at the Old Treasury Building worked like a charm for Tori and Brendan’s wedding. Not only was the ‘husband and wife to be’ super sweet, but the celebrant was hilarious. The Old Treasury Building is also very convenient for any kind of city wedding, with the perfect location in the middle of the city.
PELLEGRINI’S ESPRESSO BAR
As a lover of coffee, I loved the opportunity to photograph Tori and Brendan at this sweet place. With its red vinyl stools and checkerboard floor, it’s described as one of Melbournes most iconic destinations. Rumour has it that the first espresso machine to arrive in Melbourne was delivered here in 1954. For anyone who has been to Melbourne, or heard of it for that sakes, you know the city is obsessed with coffee. Perhaps the Pellegrini had something to do with it…? Besides great classic Italian food and espressos, it might be the pink wall that attracts people. Have a scroll down to see more of the wall!
THE STOLEN GEM
From the Old Treasury Building, we headed down through China town to our final destination, the wedding reception at The Stolen Gem. With their rooftop view over the Melbourne city centre, The Stolen Gem worked as a great location for a wedding. The guests had already arrived and were enjoying canapes as the wedding party arrived. The first dance and speeches were held as the day turn into night and the rooftop bar showed its perks with its great location. Slowly the beautiful sunset was swapped with the big city lights shining from every building.
Tori and Brendan arranged such a great wedding day. Have a look and see it for yourself!
